About
We invite you to a special Club event on Tuesday 28th March 2017 in the Old Library at Lloyd’s.
Delegated authority as a distribution channel continues to grow as a share of Lloyd’ business; projected to represent 47% of business in the Lloyd’s Market in 2017.
The importance of the MGA, broker, coverholder and all associated stakeholders in the delegated authority chain cannot be overstated. Of the UK’s £50bn annual general premium spend, approx 10% is transacted by MGA’s, with over 4000 coverholders accepting business, demonstrating a flourishing sector.
Despite the success in this area of business, there are many challenges too, from data quality to operational efficiency, combined with the cost of compliance and oversight.
In the latest research undertaken by the MGAA and Castel Underwriting Agencies, a soft market is the main factor affecting growth in the MGA sector in 2017, replacing regulation and compliance which came out on top in the previous survey. It is therefore not surprising that updating technology and increasing business efficiency remains one of the top three of MGAs strategic priorities.
