Thought Leadership - Business Change & Technology Trends & Priorities in 2021

The UK landscape in 2021, the change trends and key priorities for firms - how will Lockdown 3.0 impact on our plans for the year, considering that many are predicting that many businesses will work from home until Q3? Is it “business as usual” or perhaps there is a need to escalate the role out of new technologies, automated tools and platforms that allow for improved efficiency as well as seamless interaction between our business stakeholders?

Speaker

  • Thought Leadership Speaker & Technology Evangelist - Nick Ford, Vice President Mendix

11:50am - 12:00pm
Polling
12:00pm - 12:25pm
Breakout Rooms (30 mins)

4 Key “Change management” themes:

  • Trends in Automation – Low-code, no code, RPA, AI ML
  • Claims/Broking/Underwriting
  • Virtual work
  • Resourcing and oversight of change management function

Questions for breakout rooms:

  • What impact do you feel the extended period of “virtual” working will have on your firm in 2021 - have you needed to re-evaluate/redirect your change plans?
  • What areas of your business are (or would) benefiting from automation tools and platforms and in what way - claims, risk processing, underwriting, finance?
  • 2021 has been touted as the year of Low-code technology – Does this ring true in your firm's priorities? How important is driving efficiency to your business in the scheme of internal change projects? - https://sdtimes.com/low-code/2021-the-year-of-low-code/
  • How are we coping with talent availability, resourcing and overall change programme management, including the possible complexities of interacting with other internal stakeholders?

Hosts

  • Roger Oldham, Founder of LMForums
  • Nick Ford, Vice President Mendix

12:25pm - 12:45pm
Debrief from breakout rooms (20 mins)
12:45pm - 13:00pm
The changing role of the broker discussion (15 mins)

The changing role of the broker, and the likely future interaction with the underwriter, much of which is expected to be of a digital nature. The broker’s role has been evolving for years, but is the pandemic really impacting the speed of evolution? What does this mean for the “Change” function within both the broker and underwriter, as they find new and more efficient ways of working together. The output from this session will set the agenda for a separate more focused event over the next few months.

Preparation:

We would appreciate you to give some thought as to the following, from a change management perspective:

  • How you feel the role of the broker is changing or needs to change over the next 5 years?
  • Do we see the broker undertaking additional or different tasks?
  • How do you see this impacting the role and function of the underwriter?

We look forward to seeing you tomorrow at 11.30am - do try and sign on a few minutes before so that we can start on-time. If for some reason you cannot attend or expect to be late (and have not already told us) please do let us know.

Thank you.
