Date
17th July 2024

12:00 - 14:00

Join other London Market business leaders on 17th July to hear from two highly distinguished leading US commentators, discussing one of the most disruptive influences businesses will experience over the next few years. Learn, network and collaborate with your Market peers.

Artificial intelligence is reshaping industry, business and society, and over the next decade we are likely to see some significant changes to our lives, both in a business and personal context. Whilst there are clear advantages in such technological evolution, there are also concerns and anxieties, hence the need for a well thought through approach by Governments and businesses around the globe, including those in our own Market. Leadership, especially for those with an operations, change or technology brief, will require an evolved skillset. Join us on 17th, over lunch, for our “Leadership in the age of Ai” Workshop and hear from world class speakers.

What to expect:

To assist professionals in the London Market in understanding this changing business landscape and the operating skills required, we’re working with some amazing and insightful people, including the team led by Professor Roger Maull and colleagues, at the Initiative in the Digital Economy, part of the University of Exeter Business School, and a major contributor to UK Government thinking.

Roger and his team partner with some leading experts around the globe and we’re delighted that two of them can join a special lunchtime session. Col (Rtd) Brad Boyd, Former USA military leader and National Security Adviser ( as well as lecturer at the Hoover Institute, Stanford University) will present the findings of Stanford's Future of Decision-making Project, which is led by Colin Kahl, current US Under Secretary of Defence for Policy, in collaboration with the University of Exeter. Brad will be joined by a senior official from the USA, details of which we are not permitted to disclose – giving you a good idea of the calibre of this second contributor.

Who?

This lunchtime session will suit any business leader - in operations, technology, change, transformation, data or business unit, including client facing managers.

Preparing for a new operating model:

The project addresses a simple question: How can new technology improve decisions and how do we address the risks that arise from integrating that technology into human systems and processes? Answering this question will provide industry and government a common frame of reference for building decision systems that maximise positive outcomes while minimising risk, something critically important to the insurance industry.

Brad will discuss how industry is engaging in research and experimentation to develop safe and effective ways to integrate decision systems powered by technology like artificial intelligence, mixed reality, brain-machine interface, and a host of others. The implications for the insurance market are profound including: an understanding of future technology development (in both DoD and related sectors) and its wider geo-political implications.

Brad was previously a Director of the DoD Joint Artificial Intelligence Centre and recently named as one of the world's top 100 ‘experts in AI' by the magazine Business Insider. This a unique opportunity to engage with one of the world's top AI experts, the UK’s Engineering and Physical Research Council Research and the University of Exeter. LMF is proud to facilitate such unique sessions for the London Market.
